Black in America?

Actually, Anonymous comment #2, i agree with you wholeheartedly. I am concerned with Americans struggling as a whole, regardless of race or sex. In writing this piece, I was commenting on the show that i had just viewed and wanted to see viewers thoughts. As you can tell from what I wrote, I feel i took a pretty neutral stance on the documentary- telling mostly facts or observations from what people around me felt. The only reason there is a "social site" for Blacks is that CNN wanted to have a space for PEOPLE to come give their feedback on the documentary series they produced. All hell would not break lose if a "white site" was created. Don't believe me?....just visit http://www.stormfront.com/org or http://www.whitenationalist.org The only reason I am responding is this. You are right. But even though I understand where you are coming from, I hope you can also understand where I am coming from. I am from Alabama. Growing up, the education, health & economic gap between whites and blacks was ALWAYS evident. If blacks and whites existed on a level playing field, I could agree with you completely, but that is not the truth. Services, such as the college funds you mentioned, were created to help support and boost our community. To get more blacks in better places. Ultimately, I want to become a social worker. Not a black social worker, but a social worker- to protect and help ALL races. I apologize for your job interview experience and i commend you for your secondary education endeavors, but I truly feel CNN's 2-night investigative documentary was 2 nights of history that is rarely seen by some. Black in America?

Black in America?

If Howard students recall, late this past spring semester-when the weather just reached that point where you could chill on the yard for hours comfortably- the sun was out and so were throngs of students soaking up the much-needed sun. There was also a big black van on campus...a CNN Black in America van, visiting HBCUs

Hello Mr. President...

Hello Mr. President...

Some of my HU colleagues may say 'Good Riddance!', but I am simply going to say goodbye to our former President, H. Patrick Swygert, who has led our institution since 1995.

Amidst rumors that he was peddling money from HU, faculty leaders called for Swygert's resignation saying the university was "in a state of crisis
