As of right now it would seem that Ford is at least doing the best out of the three struggling domestic auto brands, if only because they’re not in merger talks and there aren’t rumors they’re getting bought by the Chinese. This position of “power” has allowed t hem to actually focus on making cars in the future, as seen at the LA auto show where they revealed the new 2010 Mustang last night.
The new Mustang is a moderate redesign of the old model, and it is getting rave reviews from auto enthusiasts, however, one has to wonder how many people are honestly thinking about buying something as impractical as a Mustang these days. Sure the new model gets 22 mpg, but that’s far away from “great” fuel economy.
Ford is thinking smart by bringing the hypercompact Fiesta to America soon, because clearly, this isn’t the ‘60s, and a new Mustang isn’t going to cause a huge sales surge.
