This struck me as extremely bizarre as I was surfing the internets today. So now that Obama is president to be, he’s set up a website called Change.gov (surprise!) where you can share your thoughts about what America needs to do, learn updates about Obama’s plans, etc. etc. But more importantly, you can apply for a job, something an increasing number of Americans need to be doing right now.
What job, you ask? I thought it might be a tech position to help run the new website, but then I read the description:
This website is designed to provide prospective applicants with information to help them apply for positions in the Obama-Biden Administration. President-Elect Obama will make appointments throughout the federal government. Some positions will require Senate confirmation while others will not. Some appointments will be made during the transition process and others during the early part of the new Administration.
Applicants for any of these non-career positions - whether in the White House or in any Federal Department, Agency or Commission - should use this website, as applying on-line is the fastest and most accurate way to get your information to us. (If you are interested instead in a career, civil service position with the federal government, you should proceed to the Office of Personnel Management website at http://www.usajobs.gov.)
What? Wait, is this a form to apply for cabinet positions and/or jobs that require Senate confirmation? I mean, that's the impression I'm getting. And the application section itself sure isn’t helping. You have to type in the job you want, there’s not even a drop down menu. There’s not even a place to upload your damn resume! What the hell is going on here?
If anyone has any idea what the purpose of this section of the website is, please let me know. In the meantime, I’ll be applying for Secretary of Defense. Qualifications: I kick ass!
