Smoking pot can make you feel good. I know, I know, you’re thinking tell me something I don’t already know. But pot can make you actually feel good, as in healthy!
A new study found that marijuana seems to fight infections. Compounds in the drug, including THC, have the power to kill antibiotic-resistant bacteria, such as MRSA, an illness that caused more deaths than AIDS in 2007.
Is there anything this miracle plant can’t do? But before you run out and buy the magical drug (okay, or take it out from your sock drawer), just know tests are still being done. So, doctors may not quite go for the whole “I have a stuffy nose, hand over the pot” routine just yet. Scientific American has the scoop:
Researchers were unable to pinpoint exactly how the ingredients interact with bacterial targets. They called for rigorous clinical trials to determine the safety and effectiveness of cannabinoids as topical antiseptics and as antibacterial agents.
Clinical trials, huh?
Go to college campuses and somehow I doubt the researchers will have a problem signing people up.
