Reports have shown that one in four college students has an STD (that’s sexually-transmitted disease, for all of you who didn’t pay attention in sex education). In an atmosphere filled with parties, drugs and alcohol, college students cannot avoid the risks of casual, dare I say unprotected, sex. We’ve all been there. (Well, most of us). In that drunken/high state, the first thought that pops into your head is not “I wonder if he/she has an STD” or "Better use protection!" There are other things on your mind, and so you neglect to protect yourself and your partner from what comes next.
Thankfully, a solution is here!
Rather than rely on the verbal testament of your new so-called “disease-free” friend, Manhattan-based STFree Certifications has come up with an innovative way to avoid such sticky situations. I give you “The Safe Sex License.” That’s right, a license that proves you’ve been tested for HIV/AIDS and other STDs.
Still, merely showing the card is not enough. They may have passed the test and received the card, but when were they tested? Who knows what happened in the time from testing up until now. Luckily, by dialing the toll-free number on the license, you can find out this information—at least, the former half. For the latter, however, you either have to trust that your partner was not with anyone considered “un-safe,” or hope that the testing was just the day before— or better yet, the same day.
So the next time you pick up that blonde chick from Delta Gamma, ask for the card, dial the number and listen to the testing stats, and then trust that she hasn’t been with anyone else since then.
It’s that easy…
If all else fails, you could still go with Plan B: condoms!
