The things I do for debate! A few weeks ago, I spent three days at MIT with hundreds of the country's nerdiest and brightest for college Parliamentary Debate Nationals. This weekend, I spent a whopping five days in Appleton, Wisconsin for the Catholic Forensics League Nationals with the high school students I coach.

Let me be clear: I think Wisconsin is a lovely state, and Milwaukee is a legitimate city. But Appleton was just weird. Case in point: their local high school is "Home of the Terrors," and the halls are filled with signs that say "Support Terror!" and "Earn Terror Points for Free Stuff!" Ummm...
