Not only do summer courses drain energy and spirits, they are hazardous to your health. I'm from the south...the bottom of the map- good ole Sweet Home Alabama (p.s. hate that song)...so why did I come "home" to DC to a stifling 98 degrees?!?! It was a comfortable 89 degrees down south. A better question however is....if it is 98 degrees, but The Weather Channel says it feels like 104....is it really 98 degrees?!?
...but I digress, I am taking a fitness and Spanish one summer course. With our lovely Burr gymnasium always a stifling 90 degrees anyways, today's class setting had no pros- just cons. We went outside....correction.....me and my classmates were forced to work out outside. It took my bottled water 8 minutes to reach boiling point.
Just when I think highly of Spanish (simply because I'd be out of the sun) i remembered....our buildings' air conditioning system is perpetually under construction. So, an hour and a half later- amidst conjugations and questions such as Cuando es tu cumpleanos?, my brain is scrambling on repeat: caliente, muy caliente, mucho caliente......muerte.
