Two Things the McCain Party Isn't: Young and Smart

These were the words that the creator of one of the most influential TV shows used  to draw laughter from the student crowd at a well-attended event at Ohio Wesleyan on Sunday.

A day after McCain's visit on campus, the Ohio Wesleyan campus welcomed the creator of the popular TV show Family Guy for an informal discussion on politics and cartoons.

Organized by the Wesleyan Students for Obama, the event served as a venue for Seth McFarlane to encourage students to vote early and really make a difference in this year’s election. MacFarlane spent most of the time informing the students of Obama’s policies and stance on several issues.

When asked why Obama was his candidate, McFarlane responded with “When is it bad to be smart?”

MacFarlane disagreed with the notion that President George Bush is the type of guy one would want to have a beer with.

“I don’t want to have a beer with my president,” MacFarlane said, “I want a president who could stand up and oppose the conventional beliefs like Barack Obama.”

Highlighting the importance of being politically active and voting in November, McFarlane concluded his visit with:

"Please guys -- if McCain is elected, you’ll make it a hell of a lot easier to make Family Guy...Don’t make me make those jokes.”
