5-Word Movie Review: WALL-E

5-Word Movie Review: WALL-E

Best Movie of The Year

"The power of WALL-E as a character, the poetic figure of the robot drawn to human splendor, remains powerful throughout -- and Pixar's loveliest creation." - Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle

Pixar has produced so many fantastic movies over the years -- Ratatouille, Cars, Toy Story and A Bug's Life. Many people my age probably look over animated films these days (minus The Simpsons movie), especially ones from Disney, because they are targeted to toddlers. Our generation has "grown out" of Disney movies, and we are now watching Harold and Kumar.

But Pixar not only produced a movie for kids this time, but a movie that captures the interest of all ages.

WALL-E tells the story of a robot who lives on earth and functions by eating garbage and forming it into a cube. The first part of the movie is similar to I Am Legend is that the only life on Earth is WALL-E and his pet bug. It's hard to believe that a movie that has very little dialogue besides the words "WALL-E" and "EVE" would be very entertaining, but just by watching the robot work around Earth, the movie-goer is instantly captivated.

WALL-E is entertaining to kids just like any other Pixar movie, but this movie should be seen by all ages because of the global issues that it tackles. From obesity to landfills, WALL-E showcases issues that could potentially arise if we, as humans, do not change. Every single person (meaning human) is obese in the movie. You'll have to go and see why. But it is quite disturbing at some points, but makes you love the character even more in the end for the cause he is fighting for (unintentionally).

WALL-E is easily the best movie I have seen all year, and I highly recommend you see it as well.

I was horribly disappointed with the movie... although i understood the concept and the issues that it held true, my children did not.. i had more questions through the movie then laughs/giggles... upon leaving they were tired and have not mentioned one more thing about it.. very unlike children that have just been to the theater.. i found it to be very slow, very boring and extremely complex for a child to follow.. i love pixar and own all of their movies, but this one will definetly stay on the store shelf.. Agreed with 4/5 of the comments up here. This movie was utterly stunning. If you did not like this film, I wager to say you are heartless. Posted 06/30/2008 3:07 PMReply
