Compliment Guys Gets Their Very Own Feature

Compliment Guys Gets Their Very Own Feature

It looks like the Compliment Guys are not dead after all. Here they are featured in tomorrow's issue of the Exponent. A friend once told me they must be doing it for their intro sociology class where students have to do something out of the norm to test people's reactions. But awesomely enough, the article says they just does it for fun to brighten peoples' days. That they devote 2.5 precious hours every Wednesdays to do this public service is pretty cool too. I mean, engineering and management aren't exactly easy majors. Had I not read this article, I would have assumed they were, you know, just some liberal arts goof offs.

True story: Compliment Guys once told me they liked my scarf. Next time they said my shirt was nice. We need more gentlemen like them in the world. Some people need to stop drinking the haterade and accept the random comments with grace.

I think this is wicked cool! I often see folks with nice coats or shoes or dresses and I want to tell them how nice I think they look, but then I get sheepish and don't. The one time I've done anything like that is while running—when I see folks old enough to be my grandparents out there, struggling or not, I can't help but shout "LOOKIN' GOOD!" Their huge smiles are always the best. Posted 11/19/2008 11:45 AMReply
