Everyone has someone they call a friend. However, not all friends are good friends. Some have bad social etiquette, possessing one or more of the traits listed below. If you have a friend who displays these qualities, you have probably already stopped texting/calling/talking to them. But don’t be too critical – it could be you!
1) They are flaky. They make plans to hang out but never follow through. Or worse, they actually do follow through but try to mix different social groups as a way of being efficient. A good friend would make time for each of his or her friends.
2) They crave attention. We all know people who do. They have to be the center of attention or their world will come crashing down. If they were a good friend, they’d have no problem letting someone else have the spotlight.
3) They love drama. These people are unhappy with being low-key, low-maintenance and easy-going. They need to stir up trouble and make everything a big deal. They can’t be trusted with anything, hence why they are bad friends.
4) They can’t stop flirting. A little flirting can go a long way but these people know no limits. They have no concept of what’s appropriate or when to stop. When they wonder why certain people can’t take the hint, they come to you…for the 15th time. These “friends” just don’t learn from their mistakes, which is why they don’t deserve you.
5) They are commitment-phobes. These people can’t make up their minds and hate being tied down so don’t expect them to commit to anything you’ve got planned socially. Chances are, they will be too focused on the pros and cons of, say a possible relationship, that they will actually become anti-social. And who wants to be friends with someone like that?
6) They are self-centered. These people are in love with themselves. So much so, they have nothing else to discuss with you when they are not talking about themselves, so why bother being their friend?
So there you have it, folks. If you’re friends with these types of people but think the friendship is worth salvaging, then you’re a good friend. However, if you’re the friend no one wants to be friends with anymore, you better change your habits or you’ll have no friends left.
