In cleaning my pool I discovered a female Black Widow Spier living in the corner with an egg sack. I decided to be the brave one and eliminate it. When I first splashed some water on the web the female spider immediately got on top of her egg sack to protect it. It was an uphill battle from there as she would just not die, but I eventually prevailed. (Thousand Oaks, CA)

I found out that the Black Widow is considered the most venomous spider in North America and only the female Black Widow is dangerous to humans and the venom of the black widow spider is 15 times as toxic as the venom of the prairie rattlesnake.
