In a voting folly that rivals that of the Bush-Gore election, Springfield Vermont beats Illinois as the host town for The Simpsons Movie.

The sparked a bit of conversation at Murphey's pub last night, as anyone in this age bracket has grown up watching the cartoon...hell, it has been on 18 seasons.

Talk was mostly of how increasingly worse the show has gotten since the mid 90's, but there were a few points that made everyone hopeful for the movie:

• They've allegedly thrown fake plot points into the trailer. So what we've seen may not be what we get.
  
• They've hired writers from the earlier seasons to do the movie.
  
• The most believable reason though, by far, would be this one: “Maybe they've taken all the good jokes from the past 8 years and saved them up for this movie.”
  

We'll see on the 27^th.
