I’m told that last night there was a bit of housing drama going down. I may not be understanding all this correctly, but let’s see if I have most of the facts straight:
- AEPi is moving to a new house next semester after getting “legally evicted” by AEPhi, whatever that means. Something about a “valid option to live in” and “zoning issues” and blah blah whatever.
- After this happened there was some sort of bidding war with Pike for a new house which is next to DTD across from Geddes Arb enterance, and used to be the old Sig house
- AEPi won because their nationals bought the place for $20 million in cash (holy shit!) twenty minutes before Pike submitted their late bid. You got served
- The new house is supposed to be better than their old house (which isn't hard considering their old one sucked ass, no offense Ahor) and they’re putting $500,000 worth of renovations into it to make SURE it doesn't suck. Apparently nationals is pushing hard to make AEPi the super coolest frat on campus with this massive cash inflow. That’s all well and good, but you can’t buy a spot on The List.
- Actually, maybe you can. Hey AEPi, I’ll put you at number three for $5K. Come on, that’s only like 1% of your total budget! Think about it.
So anyways, this is a pretty big deal with all the housing shakeups going on. Now, Pike, SigEp, Sig and a few others are all looking for housing, and being that there are only a limited number of giant frat house mansions on campus, so I bet that’s probably going to suck. But I'm sure the burly men at Pike can just sit down in build a new house from scratch inside of a week. MAN POWER!
Once again, the best stories come from tips (read that Theta e-mail again if you don’t believe me) so keep ‘em coming hard and fast.
UPDATE: So in retrospect, $20 million is an absolutey absurd number. This is a $20M house, and last time I checked David Beckham wasn't in AEPi. What's the real number then, $1.5M?

Comments
A) It wasn't an eviction.
B) We bought this place several months ago (not last night) because yes, AEPhi was taking our current house back.
C) The reason the move is being made for the second semester is because the new house would become single occupancy if there was no Greek Organization living in it for a 12 month span (zoning issues).
D) I'm not sure where the $20 million figure is coming from
Hope that clears things up a little bit. Don't count on that 5K, it'd be more worthwhile for me to make my own list, hmmmm.... (not) Posted 10/08/2008 10:11 AMReply
part of the reason was we were evicted due to technicalities in the contract that we now have a valid housing option
1.5 mill is a more accurate figure
the bidding thing with pike is 100% true Posted 10/08/2008 11:28 AMReply
it is closer to the hill and in the winter cabs are taken everywhere anyway Posted 10/08/2008 11:29 AMReply
AEPhi is going to have to put even more into their house though, to bring it up to "sorority standards" Posted 10/08/2008 3:12 PMReply
i hated visiting my cousin in that house for 10 min. i, being a sorority girl, don't think i could live in it. Posted 10/08/2008 4:11 PMReply
also, the new house has an enormous back lot and side yard that theyll host their famous st pattys day at Posted 10/09/2008 01:19 AMReply
moving to a shitty ass location next to the elephant walk frat will take away the one thing they had going, and drive all the jewboys to sammy.
i smell a new rivalry heating up between the newly proximate heebs Posted 10/09/2008 11:25 AMReply
it'll do just fine especially with the new 45 person pledge class (every single person they gave a bid to accepted...that's unheard of) Posted 10/09/2008 1:22 PMReply
