Don't Try This At Home

In my Physics:theory of light and color class we are learning about electromagnetic waves. Among electromagnetic waves are microwaves and to help the class learn about microwaves a demonstration was done to show us what not to put into microwaves. The objects that were put into the microwave were lit matches, tinfoil, a CD, steel wool, a light bulb, and a spoon. Each object created sparks and in the process began to burn and melt the top of the microwave.
